Welcome to Armenia

Breakfast in the hotel. Trip to the famous Garni temple. On the way, a stop near the arch of the Armenian writer Yeghishe Charents, from where an amazing view of Biblical Ararat and the valley opens. The pagan temple of Garni, the only monument of its kind dating back to the Hellenistic era, which has been preserved on the territory of Armenia. In the 1st century AD in the fortress located on a triangular hill, Trdat I ordered the construction of a delightful temple dedicated to the Sun God Migra. After the adoption of Christianity, it was not destroyed, becoming the summer residence of the Armenian kings. Afterwards, a trip to the famous Geghard monastery, which is located 9 kilometers from Garni. The monastery complex was built in the 12th-13th centuries. At first it was called Ayrivank (Cave Monastery), but later it was renamed Geghard (Spear), with which, according to legend, a Roman legionary pierced Christ. The complex consists of the main church of the Catholic Church, a narthex, two churches carved into the rock, a chapel and the Church of the Holy Virgin, which is considered the most ancient monument of the complex. Lunch in the village of Garni with a master class on making lavash. Return to Yerevan.

Breakfast at the hotel, then check out. Trip and inspection of the Khor Virap monastery 4-17 centuries. Khor Virap is located in the Ararat region, on the hill of the nearby village of Small Vedi. It is considered one of the holy places of the Armenian Apostolic Church. According to legend, this is where the deep pit is located, into which Gregory the Illuminator was thrown at the behest of Trdat III for preaching Christianity. Only after many years of imprisonment, when Gregory the Illuminator miraculously healed Trdat III from a serious illness, the king proclaimed Christianity as the state religion. According to its geographical location, Khor Virap is the closest place to Mount Ararat, from where you will have the opportunity to contemplate the legendary mountain. Next, we go to the Birds' Cave, a place where time seems to have paused at the threshold of antiquity. Its three chambers, covering nearly 500 m², resemble stone sanctuaries where every turn of the corridor breathes with millennia of history. The "Hin Areni" wine factory continues this legend, turning grapes into a living message from both past and future. Here, tradition meets innovation: in halls filled with the aroma of freshly pressed wine, historic grape varieties gain new life with the help of modern technology. Yet despite its impressive capacity of processing over 250 tons of grapes, what you taste in every glass is not scale, but soul. One of the significant cultural and religious centers of medieval Armenia is the Noravank monastery complex. The translation of Noravank from Armenian into English is a "new monastery". Although today it is hardly justifies its name, because he is over seven hundred years old. All the restoration work carried out by the famous architect, sculptor and miniaturist Momik. Noravank monastery complex, due the magnificent creations of medieval architects and its location, as well as on the background of a beautiful landscape, leaves an unforgettable impression. On 2002 the churches were completely restored and included in the World Heritage List. Back to Yerevan. Overnight at hotel.
